The Creative EstateFOR WHAT YOU’RE BRINGING INTO BEING

A PRIVATE CREATIVE ESTATE · ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE

A place shaped around
the creative process.

A private countryside home for creative work, with studios, gardens and personal support. A place to find focus and inspiration, enjoy the pleasure of making, and feel at ease simply being.

Within reach of London · An estate in development

01 / THE RESIDENCY

For every kind
of creative work.

The estate takes its cue from the curiosity and wonder of childhood, when noticing and imagining were reason enough. There is space for stillness and movement, for dreaming and for connection with yourself, the earth and others. You don’t need to account for every hour or arrive with something finished.

It welcomes musicians, actors, writers, visual artists and directors, whatever form their work takes. Bring a character you’re trying to understand, demos and voice notes you want to develop, or scenes you need to rehearse. Stay on your own or with a small team.

A room and the right equipment are part of it. So are feeling welcome, having someone to talk to and finding the confidence to try something you weren’t sure you could. A different setting can offer a fresh perspective. A conversation with someone who understands the work can help you see it differently, too.

02 / THE HOUSE & WORKING SPACES

An intimate estate.
A personal approach.

Four or five guest bedrooms in the English countryside, within reach of London. Small enough for a private stay, with space for a chosen creative team.

02 / THE FOCUS ROOM · CONCEPT STUDYWatch film ↗

The focus room

A quiet room planned with care, drawing on research into how our surroundings affect concentration. Light, sound, furniture and visual clutter would all receive close attention. Guests could adjust the layout and display their work, or keep the room clear.

The practice studio

An open space for rehearsal, movement and performance. Flexible furniture and discreet storage would make it useful for an actor working through a scene, a director rehearsing with a cast, or a band preparing its live set.

The music studio

A compact, professionally equipped recording studio, connected to the practice space, would support songwriting, recording and production. A considered acoustic design and high-quality equipment would provide a dependable setting for working alone or with collaborators.

03 / YOUR CHOICE OF SURROUNDINGS

A setting that
fits the work.

A character, a film, an album or a body of visual work may call for a different kind of room. Books, archival images, props and textiles could provide a few references or become a fully developed setting.

Spaces would be available across disciplines, with the same room taking on different uses. An actor could explore a role, a director test a scene, or an artist arrange the materials of a new project.

Specialist art direction by arrangement. The focus room would keep its neutral character.

Before arrival, a conversation about the character and historical setting would help shape the room, from a few books and archival images to period details.

The actor and founder would agree how much privacy, conversation and immersion would be useful. During the stay, there would be time to read, rehearse and work through scenes, with creative dialogue continuing afterwards if wanted.

04 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE STAY

Individual
creative guidance.

The founder has spent a career managing musicians, working closely on creative direction and the emotional demands of an artist’s life, as well as business strategy and the longer view of a career. Alongside that career, the founder has undertaken counselling training, bringing a further grounding in listening and understanding the person behind the work.

That experience could help a guest work through a character, find direction for a project, or talk through a creative or professional decision. Specialist collaborators could be introduced where useful.

The guest chooses how much involvement they want. Time alone is equally welcome.

A private stay, thoughtfully arranged

Entry would be by invitation, referral or selected open calls, followed by an application and personal conversation. Each stay would be considered for its intentions and fit with the estate’s values, including respect for others and the atmosphere of the house.

Labels, publishers, studios and representatives could also commission a residency. For guests whose work puts them in the public eye, discretion would be agreed from the outset. Guest names, visits and projects would remain private, with access and staffing arranged in advance.

05 / OUTSIDE & AT HOME

Out into
the garden.

Vegetable gardens, flowers and orchard paths, with a natural swimming pond for open-air swims. Space to walk, sit, or spend an afternoon outside.

A small timber A-frame would offer a quiet place in the garden. The founder draws inspiration from Thích Nhất Hạnh’s teaching that mindfulness belongs in everyday life. Walking the garden paths or sharing a meal can be a practice of returning to the present, rather than always looking ahead to the next thing.

The plans also allow for a sauna, steam room and cold plunge, subject to the property and its restoration.

The kitchen and table would be at the heart of the house, with visiting chefs and occasional shared suppers. Guests could eat privately or together, as they prefer.

06 / THE ESTATE COLLECTION

Things that carry
the house home.

Alongside the residencies, the ambition is to build a significant product business inspired by the house and garden. Preserves, honey, candles, botanical soaps and gift collections could reach customers well beyond the estate, including people who may never visit.

It could develop its own identity and grow nationally and internationally, while the house remains private.

Beyond the grounds

A focused initial range could expand through online sales, gifting, subscriptions and selected shops. Partnerships with growers and specialist makers would allow production to increase without relying on the estate’s land alone.

The aim is to build a lasting business around products people use, give and come back for, generating income throughout the year while the residency remains small and private.

Seasonal produce boxes and fresh cut flowers could serve the local community, with collection or local delivery.

There is also scope for cookbooks and books about the gardens and life at the house, extending the collection over time.

07 / BRINGING THE ESTATE TO LIFE

Creating
the founding estate.

The founding estate would be in the English countryside. A separate cottage or apartment on or near the grounds would give the founder a home and working base, preserving the privacy of the guest house.

Future locations

The model has scope to grow into further estates, including locations abroad. Each would take its character from the local landscape, architecture and culture, with the same personal approach to creative work.

A shared name and product collection could connect the houses and reach customers well beyond them. New locations could bring their own ingredients, makers and editions to the range.

Support beyond a stay

An independent talent management company could also build on the founder’s experience with musicians, offering representation, project guidance and introductions to collaborators as careers develop.

TARGET PROPERTY ACQUISITION

From £1.5 million

Total investment requirement under development.

Property research and detailed feasibility will establish renovation and setup costs, operating requirements and funding needs. The financial model will assess residency pricing and occupancy, optional creative services and other potential income, alongside staffing, maintenance, utilities, insurance and operating reserves.

THE BEGINNING OF A CONVERSATION

What are you
bringing into being?

Private residencies, creative collaborations and founding partnerships.

In development. Residencies would be by invitation, referral or selected open calls.

THE CREATIVE ESTATE

A conversation
starts here.

The founding estate is in development. Contact details and residency dates are yet to be announced.

Residency applications would follow an invitation, referral or selected open call, including stays supported by industry partners. A personal conversation would help establish the right fit for the guest and the estate. Collaborations, the collection and investment in the founding estate would be discussed directly and privately.
